|
Muri Beach Cottages feature two stand alone cottages and a small pole house. Each with its own private deck, each has stunning open views of Muri’s famous lagoon including sunrises and reef islets, in particular, the well known Motu Ta’akoka. Separated from the road by a lush garden strewn with natural volcanic rocks this special piece of land is situated on the far end of Muri Beach. Away from the more popular and busy tourist area it lends itself to giving you solitude & privacy yet easy walking access to a variety of dining experiences and lagoon related activities.
Location
Muri Beach Cottages are on absolute beach-front with a backdrop of native coastal forest on the south-east side of Rarotonga, Cook Islands.
Accommodation
Our two cottages and the Pole House feature all the creature comforts required by independent holiday guests.
The Cottages are open plan units with complete glass front and a large spacious deck facing the lagoon. All windows are fully screened for mozzie control and have an overhead fan.
The Pole House is a small, romantic house on stilts right on the beach with a sweeping view over the sandbar, down the lagoon and the perfect opportunity to observe the many moods of Motu Taakoka. There is a queen size bed (to watch the sunrise from) in the loft plus a daybed downstairs. (a book only works to promote absolute snooze-ability here)
There is a queen size bed in the loft plus a single bed downstairs. The house has a two burner cooktop, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, toaster and electric jug. There is also a shower and toilet and an on site guest laundry.
An on site guest laundry and BBQ are also available.
Dining & Entertainment
A short walk will take you to restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as the facilities for enjoying Muri’s famous lagoon. Onsite produce is subject to availability.. and seasons... fresh Pawpaw, bananas, mangos and avocado’s all present themselves on ’island time’. Vaima Restaurant in the neighboring village of Titikaveka, has a free pick-up and delivery service and nearby Pacific Resort has nightly live entertainment as well. Closer to the cottages, the local herons put on a twice daily show of their fishing expertise... free of charge. Ta’akoka changes colour and moods as the sun treks across the sky and from your deck you can watch the waves flop on the reef... sometimes thunderously... (F.O.C) The stars are likely to shine much brighter than most people are used to, (less light pollution), which causes the intrepid traveller to don a light cover and with glass of wine in hand settle into the warm sand and play spot their favorite constellation...
Facilities
The cottages & pole house have a two burner cook-top, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, toaster, electric jug, a queen size bed, telephone, shower (inside and out) and toilet. Bed linen & towels (both bed and bath) are provided. There is an on site guest laundry and a BBQ is available for those who wish to cook the fish they (not the heron) have freshly caught.
Activities
We have a large range of activities free of charge on property... all not for the light hearted... A photographers paradise, a book lovers heaven... we are a haven for those desiring ’time out’ from electromagentics and busy busy keeping in contact with the world. We offer no TV, just stars above, beaches to comb, waves to observe, geckos to name (& not feed), gardens to relax in and sunrises to admire. If you crave entertainment of the city kind, a short stroll down the beach takes you into the Mecca of Muri Beach with eateries and water sports and fellow travelers to mingle with.
